Briefing and Demonstration to Cultural Minister, Syed Sardar Ali Shah on the virtual reality
3 Documentation and virtual reality of the selected monuments at Makli World Heritage Sites completed and handed over by UNESCO to Directorate of Archaeology and Antiquities Sindh on 12 December 2019. The project implemented in partnership with Directorate of Archaeology and Antiquities, Government of Sindh and Mapalytics. The 3D-documentation undertaken through laser scanning and photogrammetry techniques. The purpose of the assignment is to effectively monitoring and manage the site and make the future interventions more informed. The 3DModal of the site will also serve as a marketing and promotional tool for the site and help in promoting tourism.
Mr. Jawad Aziz from UNESCO and Osama from Mapalytics gave a detailed briefing and demonstration to Cultural Minister, Syed Sardar Ali Shah on the virtual reality, other results of documentation and way of the project. Syed Sardar Ali Shah appreciated the project and showed a great interest in replicating the intervention on other heritage sites of the Sindh. He assured a full support to UNESCO in the way forward of the project on for protection and management of the Makli Heritage Sites.
